  • A point for an older champagne. Not much by way of bubbles, but outstanding in terms of a rich buttery palate coating champagne with superb length, Impeccably well stored wouldn't buy this today, but it suggests emphatically to me that it will be hard to go wrong buying and holding vintage champagnes from De Sousa.

  • This champagne has come good - very, very good. The dominant note is actually terroir rather than chardonnay, albeit that is in there - citrus lemony. Really impressive length. Blanc de blancs as first rate food wine. Matched with quickly sauteed salmon. Great match. Generally speaking, I think de Sousa's champagnes, and I've had many, might be just a bit outside the box if you will. That said, they pretty much work just fine for me - excepting perhaps where wood is introduced. Not de Sousa, I'm just not a fan of wood in champagne.
