The emerging tertiary notes add a welcome layer of complexity and the wine has lost the sharp angles of its youth, but it's still a little wound up and fussy with the structure poking through. I've liked these Passopisciaro Crus over the years but have yet to have a sublime or peak example.

Awesome nose here, with soaring red berry fruit and floral tones as well, with a little menthol in the background. The kind of nose where you just hope that the palate reciprocates!
And unfortunately, the answer is not quite - not bad, but left in the shadow by that great nose. Light- to medium-bodied, decent acidity and persistence, but after the promise of that nose, a bit of a letdown.
Can't really give this high marks. I found it on the thin and overly strong side. Perhaps it's just too young, or maybe it's that nerello mascalese simply isn't for me (not the first n m I found disappointing). 2nd bottle 12/3/20: What a difference! This has grown up and gone to school. Really interesting, compelling and very gulpable. Medium weight, great length and balance. I could definitely get into this.

Decanted 3 hours or so. Tasted blind and called a new world pinot noir. Red fruit, sour cherries, with a hot/alcoholic nose. Medium light weight. Not sure i would seek this out... and didn't do as well compared to a much more interesting pre-phylloxera wine from the same region at the same tasting.

Just a bit tight on opening; suggest decanting for an hour before enjoying. Very nice once opened up!
