NOSE: juicy and tropical; green grapes and lychee; light petrol; hint of school paste. For the most part, the aromatics reflect a still-youthful wine.

BODY: youthful green-yellow color; medium-full to full bodied.

TASTE: relaxed, but still young; green grapes; strong white plum note; medium to medium+ acidity; strikes me as Spatlese+; 7.5% alc. not noticeable; light mineral tones on the finish. Drink Now for a pleasant youthful experience, or continue to Hold awhile for anything tertiary.

  • Honeysuckle, honeydew, really vibrant, great to drink. In a good but not very mature place.

  • Thai and Riesling Night: [Thai and Riesling Night - Nine Rieslings]
Ripe sweet stone fruit, ripe and juicy yellow peaches. RS balanced with acidity, nice freshness to the wine. Rich Spatlese, a very good showing. Showing slight honeyed fruit character with its age. 93 tonight with continued maturation upside (94+).

  • Prior bottle was just over a year ago and this wine remains in a great spot. White peach, pear, melon and mixed citrus qualities on the nose. Medium bodied with white peach and white apple upfront. Mid-body has excellent density, at least on a par with the 2010 and perhaps the best of 2009-2012. Adds melon and pear through the middle, but also, tart tropical qualities, just as my prior bottle did. These tropical qualities are sandwiched between mid-body white peach/pear/melon and the tart orange, tart lemon and very some lime notes which only serves to amplify the complexity. Finishes with very good acidity which helps the flavor linger pleasantly. While the 2011 takes after the 2009 in style, the 2012 feels more like the 2010 with high acidity, high density and better balance. I will certainly buy any bottles of this I run across as this will continue to be a fantastic and interesting wine for a long time to come.
