Showing almost no age, bought on release and stored well since. As soon as the cork was pulled, it had an amazing nose. While difficult to leave, it was decanted for 2 hours and it just started to sing. Not shy with red and black fruits, anise, cassis, pencil lead and just a touch of herbs. Very rich, complex palate with layers of flavor. It starts with the black fruits, adds some raspberry, anise, cassis, a hint of dried herbs, thick and rich. Ends with a long, silky smooth finish. Not heat in this amazingly balanced wine. Over the 5 hours that the bottle lasted, it just kept getting better. Not sure if it is at its peak, it may improve with time, but certainly can age for year to come. Glad I still have a few more bottles for the future.
Garnet colored. Black currant, toasted oak on nose. After few hours slow ox, a disappointment follows. What an alcoholic mess! Overpacked with fruit, OTT, may be in need for many years to integrate. Element of joy is missing.
big sweet rich wine that moved the crowd...interesting to have after 90 poyferre...such different animals...I enjoyed this but there is a guilty plesure as one realizes just how much RS lurks here relative to Bdx or classically dry red wines
gorgeous bottle of wine.....celebrating my son's birthday and then we went to the Penguins playoff game where they were crushed by the Bruins....I thought this wine was wonderfully balanced and yet so plush and full of fruit but no heat...gorgeous
