Château Palmer: From a less than successful vintage. This wine showed less depth of colour than the '70; promising nose of deep baked fruit and spices; somewhat dry on the palate, but some fruit showing, and finishing quite short. Still a remarkable showing for this wine.

Verticale of Chateau Palmer (Toulouse, France): Just by the colour and the nose you can guess it's an old wine. So far so good. Unfortunately the palate is a bit weak, lacks structure and the alcohol is perceptible. The finish is nice but a bit dry. I made a wild guess and said '74. Good start!

Purple! red. Attractive, complex bouquet with good oak and fruit. Medium to full bodied especially for the vintage. The acidity is dominating the wine, also green tannin. The oak compensates and makes the aftertaste pleasant and broad. An ok wine with a lot of nuances in the distance, but it does not live up to the expectations.
