Coravin fun - European Riesling (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of green over red apple, slight pear, a little sulphur prickle, opens with time to show a touch of custard apple. Medium plus intensity acidity, apples and pears, residual sugar acid balance make the crunchy fruit 'pop' on the palate, all travel long. Best tasting of this. Yum.

From Coravin. Ripe apple, a little peach, cream, almost buttery notes; smells a little soft, with time gets richer and bolder on the nose. On the palate it's off-dry, all ripe apple and stone fruit; nectarine joins the peach, the acid sugar balance is slightly off for me...which is a tiny quibble on an otherwise lovely wine.

From Coravin. Sulphur dominates the nose initially. With time and agitation a little red apple and pear shows though with some pear skin bitterness and a little clove. On the palate it's quite sweet and a little cloying but, overall, quite flat. Meh on this taste. Hrmph.

Nice balance, open, the light sweetness makes it a nice foil to the chili oil. Granny smith, lime zest, and a touch of petrol. Very long finish, very easy to drink. Sure this could age but might not in my cellar. I haven’t bought an Erben-Thanisch in years, need to keep eyes open. B+/A-

This bottle seemed to go through a second fermentation. It had a effervescence to it, which made it a bit disjointed. Didn't leap out of the glass. Very light body, and not much viscosity. Had high hope but kind of disappointed especially for the money.
