Ok. Disappointing today. Unbalanced with the searing etoh. Really feeling it and tasting it tonight. Probably my 1st poor bottle of Carlisle and I’ve had a lot of them.

Cherry red with slight fading at rim. Bright berry nose. Bright and intense on palate, blackberry, raspberry, spice. Lovely acidity and balance. Finishes long with bramble fruits. Brighter, spicier with air. Lovely, classic Zin. Probably at or a tad past peak. Drink next 4 to 5 years.

The last of 6 bottles. My scores are all over the board but the last reflects a Grand farewell. On reflection, this wine shown best while young ( first five years)with an awkward adolescence and now drinking beautifully. Drank over 2 days and score increased 3 points with the time. Deep purple showing full extraction and no brick. Nose of plums laced with pepper and baking spice. Body shows beautiful balance with medium tannins and round red and dark fruits with fine brightness and a long finish. As always a great effort by Mike Officer and family.

This was not ready immediately upon opening.
It was good 2 hours later, fantastic the next evening.
