right crimson in color. 14.9% ABV. Stunning nose of dark fruits, leather, cigar box and wet leaves. Medium body with medium acidity. Supple and approachable. Currants, cassis, tobacco and earth on the palate. Nice length on the finish with prominent, gritty tannins. Lean and more austere than most anything from Napa Valley but still eminently appealing. Best over the next 5-7 years.

This reinforced my "drink no Dehlinger Estate Cab before age 12" rule. It's a long time to wait but it's worth it. Classic Dehlinger dirt, 2+ hrs air and cellar temp, whoa, beautiful, still youthful purple color, earthy, dark fruit, mellow but still bright flavors. And an aftertaste that lingers long. Tried a Syrah glass and got more dirt but also a tad more alcoholic and tannic, leans to the Bordeaux side with a hint of Syrah essence at the same time. If I had more I'd drink sooner than later as it might lose some of the brightness of fruit that make it so appealing in its' present form.

Black currant, black raspberryaromas and fruit on palate, tannins mostly integrated, medium length finish with just a hint of mustiness. This bottle might have been just a bit off which is unusual for a Dehlinger wine.

Cedar, cassis and dark fruit on the nose and palate. Tannins still evident. Medium finish.
