This wine was just outstanding tonight. And alongside a Chevalier Montrachet, rather beat it off the table (and was drunk faster to boot). One taster noted "a Riesling like nose" although I didn't agree. A fascinating and distinct nose to be sure, and a lovely palate. Wish I had more.
With the Roussette you get the great white grape of the Savoie. And this is apparently its grand cru. This is a sub-category of terrior with the Savoie.
Well there is a pronounced nose for you. Smells like Roussane. Ripe, ready, but with that strong sense of minerality. And the palate has drive and energy, but with a sense of fat richness.
Apparenetly this is all pre-phyloxera because its too high for phylox.
NR "a very complex wine that deserves 5 to 7 years of ageing. Its a very shy bearing grape. These wines drive my passion and conviction for great wine -- you cannot make this anywhere else and nothing else can tastes like this."
