Purchased at a restaurant, I was able to get this decanted 9 hours before dinner. It had a deep red center and orange rims. The medium intensity nose showed cherries, brown spices, roses, and soil.
Even after all that time in the decanter, the wine was a bit light when first poured. However, after another hour or two at dinner it really developed well. It was never too powerful but reasonably refined and exquisitely balanced. It showed ripe, rounded light tannin and great length.
This wine was best after 12 hours (end of the night) which suggests that it will age well. An excellent Barbaresco that may pick up a point or so in 20 years.

(Bruno Giacosa Asili Barbaresco) #1; COLOR-medium with a some copper tone; NOSE-beautiful; and intriguing fig component is just gorgeous; rusty nail; a little sour cherry as well; PALATE-one of the more elegant and powerful wines that I've had; this is one powerful and refined wines; the flavor is immense; rose petal surrounded by a gorgeous acorn nuttiness then swallowed by gorgeous sour cherry meets pure cranberry; impressed by the pure power and athleticism of this wine; it's as if a Heisman Trophy winner was Rhodes Scholar as well; this is PERFECT wine for my palate today in 2010; this has some age, but, make no mistake, this can cellar for 30 years; this is PERFECT premium wine; great balance; one of the best wines we've ever had on WLTV; AG-95; ST-94; WS-93; GV-97
