  • Bold Wine, not easy to be recognized as Riesling. Best enjoyed with food. Was it worth sotring it for 10 years, probably, but not my style as it had seen extensive oak.

  • In a good spot - quite open and expressive. Herbs, minerality, white/yellow fruit on the nose. Slightly creamy on the palate, great acidity, nice concentration of fruit, quite complex and very persistent with an attractive mineral backbone. Well balanced and elegant. Drink or keep. 91-93

  • Beautiful, fruit-driven nose of medium intensity. Plenty of juicy yellow stone fruit, some mango and canned pineapple; delicate notes of vanilla and buttercream round out the picture. An identical aromatic picture on the palate, with candied citrus and a touch of herbaceousness on the finish. The wine shows body and a juicy extract, coupled with fruity melt and a fine creaminess. The medium+ acidity creates balance. Dense, juicy and with nice length with ripe yellow and exotic fruit. The wine was fermented spontaneously in 500 liter oak barrels and left on the fine lees for 1.5 years. This explains the special creaminess and Burgundian style of the Grosse Gewächse at "von Winning". These wines have a special style, in which perhaps less the terroir than the conception plays a decisive role. One may or may not appreciate this based on one's own taste, but the special quality is undoubted. 92 points

  • Drinks amazingly well. Fruit and minerals are in harmony. Includes orange citrus
    ...and a long long finish.

  • Well this is really hard one for me , as if i am looking at the other reviews here they are raving. But i think they might be in a mood like waouu this is Von Winning at its a GG
For me, i had this in Zalto White , Zalto Universal and Zalto Burgundy to see how things would be.
First of its really really fresh and tasted blind i think i would have thought it to be something really new like 2017....apart from that i find the nose to be really holding back...i get small hints of pineapple.....and on the palate i have things like pineapple juice , white pepper , granny smith maybe a touch of cinnamon like flavour. No hint of any barrel ageing . Its a really nice wine , but i would have thought it to deliver more. Maybe its just in a state of closed down ! i dont know and will never find out as this is my only bottle. But its drinking nicely and i got it at a discounted price .
