Exhibiting a mature, brown hue, this vintage offers a notable scent of oxidation. The palate is rich with pronounced figs, complemented by nuances of cherry and chocolate. The tannins are still assertive, adding complexity. There's a delightful balance with its mature character and fresh acidity. Truly the evening's most intriguing wine!
I loved it!

Very pale brown colour. Fresh, aromatic and vigorous on the nose, cherries, cranberries, tobacco. Lovely fruit compote character. With air this becomes really beautiful. Very Burgundian. Very light and delicate on the palate, dusty tannins apparent. Fruit fading relatively but there is still very attractive textured sweet fruit on the palate. Lovely stuff. A toss-up between this and the richer, darker-fruited 67 but this bottle edges it, just a bit more alive.

I was really impressed by this wine. Nose was terrific from the first pour - none of the initial funkiness you tend to get with older nebbiolo. Still so much life left to it. Plenty of fruit, silky smooth. Just drinking great. Not sure how to rate: 93-94 on current pleasure, much higher “relative” on what it is for its age.

Amazing! After standing the bottle up for a couple days, I did a double decant. Lots of sediment and a soft cork. But damn the wine was good. Tawny color, silky smooth. Gorgeous wine.

Troplong Mondot: 1959-2012 (Stockholm, Sweden): This bottle was in early oxidation stage. My guess is that there are both better and worse examples out there.
