This wine has really come into its own in the last year. Beautiful, deep nose of butterscotch and shortbread, it has a long, lingering, rich finish. The oak may be a tad too much for some, but for me it is in perfect balance with the delicious fruit and lively citrus acidity. I can think of more than a few white Burgundies which were over the hill at 9 years old, but this wine is good for at least another 5 years. Very satisfactory and satisfying.

This wine punches above it's weight IMO, particularly for the $17 deal price I got it for. While not for the oak averse, I don't feel it's over the top, but the oaky/malo richness does not go unnoticed. We're not talking CA banger buttered popcorn, but it's there for sure. Light to medium golden color. Aromas of tropical fruits, light earth and vanilla notes, and smokey toasted barrel. Medium body, acid, and finish, and flavors of similar tropical fruits (banana, passion fruit, pineapple, guava), pear, yellow apple, sourdough, hazelnut, and lingering minerality. This is a $30 (as a deal) to $75 wine coming from CA easy. Serve it blind to someone who likes that style, and maybe even try it on someone who professes to not, and see what happens. Worked well with crispy halibut with tomatoes, capers, and artichoke hearts, but shrimp & grits or seared scallops with parsnip puree would be a good call as well. 91+

A nice Chardonnay, smooth and buttery with very little oak and nice minerality.
