Doesn't feel hot, but packs a wallop. Candied root beer. I would consider this a niche wine, full flavored, full bodied, not bad for a few sips on its own, a little better than that with certain kinds of food. Paired with a jerk pork loin, it was better than on its own, and better, I believe, than it would have been with more traditional pinot pairings. I would say that there are some whites that would probably work better, and beer would have been good too, but I don't think there is a red I would have preferred to this with the spicy, grilled pork loin.
Best bottle of this I have had. Served up at a poker game and was a big hit. In its sweet spot (literally) right now but the sweetness is balanced by the fruit and the lush texture. A big surprise for me since I never liked this much before but maybe didn't give it enough time in the bottle.
