At first seemed slightly roasted and past it's prime. With a little airtime the wine opened up and I got expressive, albeit jammy fruit, nice minerals, tar, and leather. Great acid balance and Amarone character. Given the price of the wine, I think it was stellar.
A bargin Amarone, what can I say? Earthy, Mushroomy, Cured Meat something like Prosciutto with alittle Jam on the nose. This bottle the palate was disappointing, Earthy and gamey with little fruit, and moderate tart finish. Drink with hearty meat dishes like Stew or roast.
