  • Fresh red berry fruits in the bouquet and also beautifully dosed good oak. On the palate red and dark berries, herbs and spices, juicy and fresh acidity and tannin.

  • Deep red color wine with plenty of oak notes, dry notes with limited residual sugar notes. Dry cherry flavours with plenty of complexity makes for an enjoyable wine.

  • Montalcino Trip- Day 3 (Querce Bettina & Canalicchio Franco Pacenti) (Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy): Nose: The nose is aromatic, searching, and introspective with plums, dark red cherries, raspberries, earth tones, bitter chocolate, dark florals, violets, spice tones, and some licorice. There is excellent depth and layering emerging.

Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity and medium+ tannins. The tannins are silky and refined with the acidity providing lift and a refreshing quality. The feel is polished and with a satin-like quality along with plums, dark red cherries raspberries, bitter chocolate, licorice, violets, and some spices.

Overall: This is a gorgeous Brunello that is starting to enter its window. It has some perfume and layering with an introspective quality that just draws you in. This is a Brunello to contemplate and capture one's imagination rather than blow you away.

  • Much in line with the previous bottle. This time the fruit was a bit fresher with some red berry character.
We had this bottle on the first day in spring that we could sit outside in the sun. This wine had an enchanting 'back in Italy on summer vacation' feel to it. Amazing how a good glass of wine can be so much more than a nice drink!
