Strawberry jam in sandalwood. Showing nice. Delicate and smooth. No need to wait, enjoy now. Classic Rioja. Don't expect any extraordinary, but keeps well for the age justifying the longevity of Rioja wines.
Good filling-level (bottom neck), mushroomy cork. The wine was medium- to dark garnet in colour and threw some sediment. It offered ripe strawberry, cherry, coffee, a hint of chocolate, spices and clove as well as earthy and mild vegetal notes on the nose and palate, with a sour and balsamic finish. The tannin was fully resolved and the medium-bodied wine had a smooth texture, with medium-level acidity and average length. Fully mature. Drink now.

Brick red, fading color. Dried flowers and fruit leather in the nose, with a bit of tobacco or cigar box, those faint aromas found in old Riojas. The nose is not too concentrated. In the mouth it feels light and continues the aromas as flavors typical to the type and age. Rather short finish. A good example of a reserve Rioja; just what I would look for. Right now it drinks great, and may hold a while longer, but I think it is at it's proper plateau.

Really nice understated old Rioja as these tend to be. Some cherry, old wood, orange peel aromatics and just silken on the palate. Drunk with Christmas dinner but this could be a forgiving match for nearly any food.

Still drinking good. Shows good style but not yet an ethereal character.
