Reasonably decent wine from a bad weather year in the Yakima Valley. Can still taste that the fruit didn’t fully ripen. Much better in day 2. Some of the greener vegetal notes smoothed out revealing blue-black fruit. Actually verging jammy, with which the rich dinner of leek-potato gratin with smoked oysters and Dungeness crab oddly paired quite well.
A little tight at first but improved in the glass over the hour. Great balance, lots of red fruit and a nice slightly acidic finish. Really enjoyed the last glas watching the moon rise off of my patio, sipping this gem.

Open 5 hours, decanted two.
Acidity making for nice bite under sweet black berries. Tannins holding well, see how it is in a couple of years

Still requires a decant, it opens slowly.

Drunk over two nights in blind comparison with 2012. Initial decanting one hour (for part)
Significantly more attractive on second night
More austere than '12, brighter in glass, less fruit, generally slightly more appealing. Most attractive with camembert
