Uncorked and recorked in the morning, drinking in the evening. Woody/leathery on the news. Elegant to the taste, very well balanced. Very smooth, no alcoholic kick, gentle smoky berries. Extraordinary long and lingering vanilla after taste.
"Open That Bottle Night" private tasting, Denver, CO. Cork mostly rotten & crumbled badly, able to remove the last 1/4 inch intact. Very short decant with little sediment/waste. Light to moderate red/purple color with some brown edge. Nose typical of very old wine. Thin body, earthy, not really oxidized but little/no fruit still showing. Flat with some corkiness, short finish. Nothing really off and certainly very drinkable but well past it's prime. Nevertheless, a very rare treat and experience.
