New Year's Eve dinner with duck confit and duck breast. Big and hedonistic wine. Rich texture, ripe fruit and noticeably sturdy tannins. Game meat, spice, black cherry and hints of chocolate abound. Long finish. 50% new oak aged, which does show. Needs air and bottle age to be at its best, I think, perhaps 5-10 more years. Excellent with the duck.

Clean nose and resolved tannins, refined red-fruit-driven wine, lovely balance but lacking some oomph in the end. Overall a nice effort and ready to drink now. I don't think it will reward much with further cellaring. A wine to enjoy for itself and, my opinion, not with food.

Really brilliant wine. Incredible perfume, so sexy full of cherry and red fruit, tart plum, orange, violet, primrose, cassis, ink, wood, game, mushroom. Super luscious, tremendous energy without any heaviness, dimensional and almost sticky in texture. Sharp, precise with amazing backward spice and purity. 94

My second time with this wine, previously the 2011, and what a difference. This is a really good Echezeaux, with close resemblance of the 2010 AG Richebourg I had some months ago. A bit too much oak, and probably needs 2-3 more years, but very good already today. This wine could possibly ad 1-2 points, with time.
