Dusty graphite nose with red apple transparency, florality, clove, chocolate, salt liquorice and slight rubber. Medium bodied palate with mid-level acidity and good tannic grip. Red fruit, stone fruits, liquorice and leather. Good length. Good stuff.

For a "light and dry" wine (according to the label), this was an interesting evolution to track over an hour and a half tonight. Fresh from the cellar it was quite lovely, cool red cherry fruit, lively floral notes (violet/lilac?) and an even, lightly tannic finish. Very nice with an herbed pork tenderloin. As it warmed, the floral qualities assumed a more prominent position in the nose and mouth along with the alcohol, but I can't say I liked it more than I did at 56 degrees Fahrenheit. The chill seemed to tame some of the '03 fire-this could be a candidate for the lightest 14% alcohol red wine made in Italy in 2003. Next time I might keep this puppy in an ice bucket just to keep it from overheating.
