  • Everything I like in a mature Zin based blend. Black and some red fruits, brambly/stemmy notes... though subtle enough that they don't detract from the beautiful fruit, just add to the complexity, a little bit of leather and a long long finish. Really nice right now.

  • Decanted for two hours and served at cellar temperature. Initially a very funky nose but this blew off by the time we served food. Then the nose was much more chalky with some graphite and blackberry. Dense but accessible on the palate with deep flavours of black fruits and a liquorice twang. Very contemplative and I think in its sweet spot.

  • 40% Carignan and 38% Mourvèdre, with Zinfandel, Palomino, Alicante and Mission, from vines that were planted in the 1890s.
    Decanted and showing moderate sediment.
Slightly rustic nuances on the nose with notes of earth and forest floor, white pepper, spent campfire, garrigue, herbs, old boot leather, innertube and anise are set against the notes of black plum, blackberry, desiccated violets and juniper berry.
The palate shows uplifting acidity, moderate fruit tannins and alcohol.
flavors show the more mature side of this field blend. Notes of fig, brambly blackberry and plum mix with earth, dusty leather, garrigue, dried herbs and violets, camp smoke, white pepper and hints of juniper, innertube and blueberry reduction. The finish lingers.

  • Nearly opaque black red color with lifted black fruit and red fruit, chaparral, spice cake, white pepper and a hint of lavender aromas. On the palate it’s round and energetic with well integrated tannins and ripe black raspberry, black cherry, and blackberry with a subtle vein of minerality and a long sweet spice accented finish. 14.1% abv.

A field bBlend of 40% carignane and 38% mourvedre, with the rest being a balance of zinfandel, palomino, alicante and mission, from vines that were planted in the 1890s
