Based on other TNs I decided to give this wine plenty of air and see what develops, so I decanted it for 40 minutes. Well, lo and behold, this bottle opened up to be what I knew it had the pedigree to be. It is a bottle from the same lot as my previous bottles, so I'm hard pressed to explain, but... The nose offered up lots of dark red fruits, along with some lighter red fruits, earth and spice. The medium bodied palate was smooth and balanced, with dark red fruits, earth, a fair amount of spice, and some pepper. The wine can hold for another couple of years, but why wait - Enjoy Now!

PnP, with as little air time as possible. Some aromas of red fruits, which followed on to the medium bodied palate, along with some earth, juicy acidity and some drying tannins. The wine did begin to fade by the end of the meal, so please drink up.

PnP. Based on my previous note, I limited any airtime and was glad I did. Once again, after about an hour or so, the fruit began to fade. The nose continued to put forth lots of dark red fruit, and these followed on to the medium to plus bodied palate, along with lots of earth, pepper, some spice, and a juicy (but balancing) acidity. Still one of my favorite Martinelli pinots. Will try to enjoy the couple of bottles that I still have as soon as possible.

PnP. One of my favorite Martinelli pinots, and it did not disappoint. Lots of dark red fruits on the nose. These follow onto the palate, along with some earth, a slight touch of tannin, and balancing acidity. However, over the course of the meal the fruit began to fade a bit, so I recommend drinking without aerating, and soon.

Poured blind with five of my other favorite Pinots at my Cru Club - 2 Oregon and 4 California. This was the clear favorite of the group. Big wine but very smooth and the fruit shines. Poured in the glass ~1 hour prior to drinking.
