Excellent, but still a bit brawny and tannic. Not an elegant wine, but Mike's typical robust fruit and verve. I'd say drink up, unless you want to keep this another 10 years and see if it could emulate some of Paul Draper's Zins from the early 80s, which actually this wine is a candidate to do.

Wow, this wine is drinking great. It certainly showed the benefit of ageing Mike's wines for a couple of years. Why didn't I buy a few more of these. Happy I have one left.

I was thinking I might have dessert this evening, but sipping from this bottle convinces me I have no need. Typical Officer magic. Beautiful berry fruit is layered in a smooth and supple presentation–like a napoleon of optimally ripe boysenberry and raspberry layered one on top of each other. Bite but little heat. Can't believe how good this is. Pardon me while I take another fork full!

Wow, no one has put a TN on this wine since November last year. Well, allow me to pish into the pot. Hadn't drank a Carlisle in some time so what the hey. Can't recall where I got this wine but perhaps was one of the first bottles I bought from Mike. This wine is about black cherry and black raspberry, peppery flavors and some chocolate. Medium to full bodied, fairly dark in color and with a juicy earthinessl. Hot? Not really. Maybe a little bit of oomph from the alcohol but not out of place--hell, it's a Zin. The finish is a mix of polished fruit and some dusty tannin. Goes well with the turkey bacon, eggbeater, havarti and mustard on sourdough sandwich. (Can you tell my wife didn't cook tonight!). Well done Zin, Mr. Officer.

One hour in the decanter and still, I think it could use some more time. This stuff is not your father's Zin. Unctious, backward, a bit of licorice and worthy of another year in the bottle.
