Appearance: Deep ruby with some garnet hints. I can’t believe how youthful this is on appearance.
Palate: Explosion of ripe blackberry and plum. Vanilla, cedar, dusty leather and earth. Full body with round, grippy tannins, and acidity to hold everything together. Nice length to the finish.
Decanted for an hour and drank over 3 hours with a steak dinner. Showed more rustic, tertiary the more time it spent with air. Not really a Napa cab person but the quality is there. Would have preferred a little less oak influence. Still in shock at how youthful this wine is for an ‘01 vintage. Drinking well now but I think this could be laid down for another decade at this point.

From Mag, this was in an awesome spot. Nice dark red fruit flavors with good density nice life & impressive dark spices. Drank really well and seemingly much younger & delicious then expected. Impressive

Best aged bottle I have ever tasted so far. Extremely young on the palate. Lots of fruits. The colour is still deep inky with no sign of age on the rim. Fine nose.

A 65th Birthday Celebration (Schur House - Riverwoods IL): Small glass. Faintly dirty but good black cherry and plum that made it through easily with good depth. 89 points to me today, but I'm not sure if representative.

Napa 2023: the quieter version; 2/6/2023-2/11/2023 (Napa/Sonoma California): Really nice wine. As young as the 10 Martha’s which kindof surprised me. Now you do get a bit more sense of the Rutherford dust and a bit more drying tannin in the style. Still the darker fruit. Very tasty.
