  • I've been very surprised with the excellent quality of Frank Family Cabs. We bought a load of older bottles and so far the less than stellar vintages of 1998 and 2000 have showed amazingly well. This was really well balanced, and was classic in profile, with strong cassis, sweet tabacco, rich mouthfeel with ample present tannins, and even fair acidity, some light plum in the background along with a wet earth note kept this interesting and showed some nice development. Maybe it won't go as far as a '99 or '01, but drinking well now, or wait a 3-5 years to retry, no problem. Very solid and a great buy for an excellent cab with age.($35.99).

  • Similar notes. Getting a bit of mint. Mid palate really is nice Cab fruit. Finish lasts well for the non-reserve. Real good fruit explosion, pie cherries and strawberries on the front & mid palate, a deep swallow to the finish. Yum. Well made, nice wine, good on it's own or with a meal.

6 Hours later, richer, fuller palate. Tannins still cleansing. Cocco more than Choco, not the bitter kind, sweet. Rough saddle leather and strawberries on the finish that kinda lingers on.

  • Dark Purple. Rich fruit nose, cassis, menthol, oak. Palate is rich coco, leather, Cab fruit. Front palate to mid to end this is a nice Cali wine. Tannins are resolved and at the finish. Drinking perfectly after a Pop n Pour and opening up in the glass and bottle. Drinking great now, but get at them before 2010.
