  • I drank the last of my 1990s Lokoyas at least a half dozen years ago and looked forward to trying this bottle to see if I drank mine too soon. Although this bottle was very good, I am not kicking myself for drinking mine when I did. The fruit and richness of the wine is no longer what it was, but it was still in balance, smooth and showing the dusty tannins that have been with this wine since its youth.

  • :30 decant at Tesse
    A big wine
Drinking surprisingly young and somewhat tannic and hot initially with flavor of cassis , and stewed dark berries.
An additional :30 in the decanter and it calmed down and became more balanced with secondary flavors of tobacco and orange liquor emerging .
It paired well with the truffle pasta

  • my note from a week ago says it well... this is superb and still has at least ten years to go... sadly I'm now out of this wine

  • my last note said it pretty well (see below) but I would say this is starting to show hints of age related complexity (but still on the primary side)... I think this darn thing has at least 10 (maybe 15 or 20?) years to go before peak (prior note: "absolutely beautiful, elegant mouthfeel, very smooth but with great acidity for balance, hints of spice in the background and some pretty heady fruit (red) in the foreground... loved the fruit but if there had been some more secondary this score could have gone up two or three points")
