Purple color with some brown at the rim. Very muted grapey bouquet and flavor that is not able to mask the alcohol, which showed up in the finish. Wine clearly over the hill, and my fault for not drinking it earlier.
Still very intense on the nose with black currants, blackberries. On the palate a bit out of balance now. Flavors of licorice, graphite, and coffee are there but fading and an element of excessive acid and stewed fruit. The bottle was slow ox'd for 3-4 hours and followed over the next 24 hours. More time didn't help it very much. Some figs and raisins emerged over time and some hints of oak and a creaminess that reminded me of a watered down milkshake. Based on other vintages I'd say I'm at least a couple of years late to the party on this one. Not scored.
