Russian River themed tasting. One of two Sauv Blancs, the other from Merry Edwards. This was steelier and less round than the ME, but quite pleasant and complex. Definitely looked the part of a Sauvignon Blanc, light straw gold. Good stuff as usual from Rochioli.

At the SB tasting, followed a grassy one from New Zealand. Definitely more California in style, with some oak, but not overwhelmingly so. Nice roundness to it. Some thought it was simple, I thought it rather complex.

The wine is lightly straw colored. 14.5% ABV. Great nose of peach, lemongrass and grapefruit. Fresh and racy with tangy acidity. Lime, lemon and minerals on the palate. This wine never disappoints. Drink now.

Wow, as good as the last August bottle. If there's a better sauvignon blanc in California I don't know of it.

Very nice and balanced. Good crispness despite its age (SBs are best drunk when still fresh). No point in waiting; drink now.
