1985 Bordeaux Blind (Berkeley): Group's #4; my #2; 0 first; 6 second; 1 third; 1 last. Lovely bouquet of meat, leather, cedar, and dark fruits. On the palate, cassis, minerals, and smoke. Complex, full-bodied, with wonderful acidity, depth of fruit, and a long finish.

Jammo, a good mate and serial lurker on this board, (c’mon Jammo, sign up and start posting, your contributions would be most welcome here) bought a private cellar out of Maine when he was living in the States for a few years and this was an impeccably stored bottle that if lived up to previous botts should have drunk well. It was indeed a Millefeuille of faultiness, with a layer of sweaty saddle, a layer of horse, a layer of wet Hessian, a layer of band aid…….

Impressionant pour un second vin de cet age. Bel equilibre. Olives. Herbe fraiche. Bonne persistance. Un reel plaisir!
