Final bottle from a three bottle lot purchased at the estate in 2013. It was never a very energetic wine, and at 11 years it seems to have reached the end of its possibilities. The modest aromas and flavours are completely mature, honey and spice with a whiff of citrus fruit in the background, the acidity is on the low side and the bitters are becoming noticeable; the finish is surprisingly complete, and has very good length. It's still a classic Rheingau GG from an excellent terroir, but it is running out of steam. Drink up.

First night it was quite strict, with mostly lime flavours and aromas, and a bit tight. By night three, my goodness, this keeps getting better and better. Guaranteed the last sip is gonna be the best. Bursting with fruit now, while retaining the fine acidity and minerality. I think this was consumed way too early, it has a lot to give yet.

This is pleasant, but it's not exciting. Nice exotic fruit/hints of petrol nose. My wife claimed the wine was a bit flabby, which I'd contest, but I would agree that it wants energy or complexity. There's an attractive sense of minerality, and it's well-balanced and therefore very drinkable, but the angels definitely aren't out to celebrate this one.

Weil Gräfenberg vertical 2003-2013 (Restaurant 360 Grad, Limburg/Lahn): Popped and poured. Clear, youthful medium golden color. Nose with some unpleasant band aid notes. Medium+ acidity, well balanced, good length. 89

10 years after Riesling tasting - 2012 - Part II (Concept Riesling, Düsseldorf): Glass: Gabriel Standard
Tasted blind. Clear, deep yellow color. Deep, warm and round nose. On the palate very intense, salty, creamy, almost oily. Very powerful, deep, dense and balanced. Very long finish. What a surprise! 94+
