DM Wine Dinner (Canary Club, New York, NY): Pretty impressive for a 34 year old Champagne. Still has some effervescence and fruit. Though, this vintage has seen better days.

Best bottle I had from the regular vintage 1989. Slightly more evolved than the CdM. At his peak. No reason for longer waiting. 95

Hello old friend. It’s amazing how every vintage every line of Krug has that same … Krug-ness. This one was showing beautifully with marzipan and rich toast and hazelnuts, but also the lemon line of Grande Cuvee showing lots of freshness. Showing age: the marzipan with whiffs of oily tire fire but otherwise nothing and certainly no mushrooms, forest floor etc. But the acid is still so powerful -- I can only imagine what it was like when new -- that it stays incedibly fresh and vibrant. It’s at a perfect maturity and hard to imagine what would make it better.

Unreal. It was a head snapper for the crowd even after Cristal 2008 en magnum. Krug was a mag too. Bright golden straw color. Aromas of caramel, zesty green apple, lemon and dried apricot. Very similar palate but the zippy acidity brought forth some lemon zest. It was just such a pleasurable wine to drink. The texture was more of a rich older montrachet. Bubbles were still there but weren’t even necessary! So good. Highest recommendation
