Saturday late night at Maison Dakota. Pop and poured. Drank over 2+ hours. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is cloudy, pale intensity, garnet colour. Legs. Nose not clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of dirty wild earth, feral animal (brett), ?bacon, dried cranberries, red cherries. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), integrated medium- tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sour red cherries, dried cranberries, leather, animal meat. Long finish. Good quality. Softness combined with the feral edge. On the rustic side of things. Feels like time to drink up as fruit starting to show signs of drying up. Wine made by David Duband.

Tasted in June 2013 at L'Atelier Robuchon on the left bank in Paris. It was one of the most remarkable instances of a wine changing in the glass that I have ever experienced. For the first hour or so it was an earthy burgundy with mushroom, forest floor, leaf mold flavors. Then suddenly it blossomed, the fruit came out with a vengeance. Raspberry, red fruit, high toned. It was a very good wine but most memorable for this dramatic transformation. If I had tasted blind I would have truly thought it was two different wines.

Drinking nicely already. Soft, quite delicate, dark fruit, brambley flavours, medium finish. This is an example of a winemaker going with the light vintage and making an easy wine rather than trying to soup up the juice with heavy-handed winemaking.

Very elegant and delicate, beautiful red and dark fruit, a lovely unforced wine.
