Purple hues, with the merest hint of brown to the rim. The nose brings dark fruits, ripe blueberry, dark raspberry, a line of sedate oak and mellow layers of purple flowers, smoke, mint and herbs. In the mouth, there is glossy concentration, rich dark fruit and fine persistency, followed by an assertive grip of dry tannins. Dark and rich Barolo. 93+

Taste: Medium bodied with high acidity and high tannins. The structure is extremely youthful with red fruits, roasted herbs, violets, fresh picked berries, tar, earth tones, and wild flowers.
Overall: This is a gorgeous, young Barolo. It is in desperate need of time, but everything is there for this to be something truly special. It has loads of depth and layers with extremely youthful structure. I would love to try this in another 6-8 years.

Vietti tasting with Lorenzo (Castiglione Falletto): From vines on the steep part of the vineyard. It sees large casks only. For Lorenzo, Vietti's Rocche is the perfect mid point between the Brunate and the Lazzarito. Delicate, attractive aromatics suggesting candied cherries. Crystalline, pure fruit. Beautiful texture. Soft and generous tannins. A lovely wine.

Had on several different nights with Italian fare. Did okay with Pivot derived glasses. Lean , elegant, black tea and herbs and nice finish

An Italian Night at Hamburg (Silo 16, Hamburg-Harburg Harbour, Germany): Next Barolo of this evening, powerful, still young appearance, fullbodied, persistent, a basket full of cherries, some tar, long and convincing in its class, *(**-****), 91-93+?
