  Lafon Montrachet vertical with some great champagne and reds. (Four Seasons, Minneapolis, MN): Vertical tasting of Montrachet 2000-2019: Darkest of the group. Great nose with some gunflint and honeysuckle. Good acidity and energy. Improves with air. Nice balance. Middle third rating.

  11/12 pairing. This is the more rich and powerful of the pair with a more broad palate, if a little less nuance and detailed. For all the richness and raw power, it still has beautiful balance and the layers unfold in a nuanced manner. Gorgeous.

  Happy Birthday to Me (Oriole - Chicago IL): Alongside the 2011, both brilliant. This was much richer and riper, thus more accessible and forward. Lots of apple, plus something nearly tropical, this showed great depth, but slightly less energy and minerality vs the 2011 which just kept going and going.
