  • Quite deeply coloured this wine is not premoxed but equally appears unlikely to make old bones with a developed nose of yellow peaches, grapefruit, delicious apples and touches of honey, jasmine flowers and cinnamon spice. The palate is rich and unctuous with plenty of drive and balance yet lacks that final zest that makes great Puligny. Delicious and enjoyable but on this bottle I would move the 2012s foward in the cellar ahead of the 2011s and 2009s.

  • It's already in the advanced stage so better served with lower temperature. Heavy oak influence without sufficient fruity and acidity to balance the palate. OTOH, it gave a prominent texture and body. Inconsistency was clearly seen here compare with my last bottle tried 10 months ago.

  • The Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet "Champs Canet" Premier Cru 2012 was a big disappointment. Five years ago, I summarised: "Some currently lacked the final polish and finesse, but that should change with age. For now, this is an excellent Puligny and certainly the most balanced Frenchman of the round so far." Now there was a rant about this wine, which is not exactly cheap (already 98,- at the time) and now presented itself almost oxidised. A wine with a fine citrus fruit substructure and some dry wood and pepper, but with little depth and, despite a clear acidity, a tired-looking overall condition.

  • Intense aroma. Creamy and buttery dominated but with good fruits and acidity. Structural. The resemblance of a Lafon really surprised me. I reckon it should become more balanced with few more years.
