  • Superb example of Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir. Beautifully balanced and at the peak of his drinking window. Could live a little longer but don’t wait too much

  • Riley's 1st Birthday (Botanic, Raffles City): Really quite nice. This has diverged more and more from Burgundy as it has aged in the bottle, but it is a solidly delicious wine in its own right. The nose still and a vanilla-edged shadow of new oak laced through sweet red fruited aromas of cherries, raspberries and strawberries, all this kissed by a hint of smoky rubber. The palate still had a quite a bit of vigour in its bright acidity and fine tannins, but the puppy flesh of youth has slimmed down somewhat to show fairly elegant flavours of red cherries and dark berries seasoned with a nice bit of sweet spices, and just that touch of earthiness starting to emerge. Not the most complex wine in the world, but this was balanced and delicious.

  • Yum. Really nice flavour. In this bottle the acidity was a little high, which cost it a couple of points. Hopefully that is either the bottle or my palate (I am suffering a heavy cold).

  • Annual Bonfire Night Tasting. Very intense nose with feral, earthy and mineral notes. Quite sauvage. I initially though Pommard but Alex correctly said it was more Gevreyesque. Palate is really elegant and nicely developed with intense earthy and mushroom notes. Good concentration and lovely mouthfeel. Balanced fruit, tannin and acidity. This is very classy indeed and the most enjoyable PN I have had outside Burgundy. No new world jamminess here. Thanks to Alex for yet another great find. Apparently this is a lighter vintage, which explains why it is drinking so well now. Joint WOTN.

  • Love this wine. Such great fruit definition with red cherries, earth and some spice on the finish. It's medium bodied and has a luscious mouthfeel. Really nice and long. This has a great future and I am looking forward to sharing it.
