Garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of tar, pepper, black berries and black cherries. Flavors of berries, raspberries and cherries. Medium to tart acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold.
Garnet color, some opacity, and some brick hints at the rim. The aromas are crushed cherry, sweet tobacco, plum, leather, and currants. The tastes are sour cherry, brown sugar, vanilla, tobacco, and slightly tart red fruit. This wine is light on the palate and complex.
Shared w Andrew at Christmas - brick-red tinges noticeable. Tannins very soft and smooth, almost a velvety mouth feel. Fruit reserved but delicious. I've never had a bottle this old before, and I expect what I found is what I should have expected. Not unpleasant, just markedly transformed.
