Really stellar. Nuttiness and orange peel tones that I associate as forward characteristics of older tawny were more secondary, as this was shockingly red-fruited and fresh and concentrated for a wine that was in cask for 45 years. Long finish to the point that after several sips it builds on the palate almost permanently. This cask could have gone a lot longer. Don't let the pricing surprise you... this is quite superior wine to a bottle of vintage ruby from the same era like a '63 or '70. It just is.

maybe 95 points. Tasted at the Graham port lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia as part of a vertical with the 1982 colheita and the 30- and 40-year tawnies. This is definitely the winner of the group. A great wine.

Quite a special treat, only 6 barrels made and Emirates must have bought up a good few of those. Fresh figs, nuts and a firm but yielding acidity, not amazing but quite a treat and very decent with a godo cheddar (all the more so at 40,000 feet).
