shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate the end of the work week. i had high expectations for this wine based on the reputation of the producer and the fact that bottle smart brought in multiple six packs. needless to say, i was a bit disappointed. the wine is still youthful. dark purple color. generous nose with typical malbec character. however, the wine is not firm in the mouth and has a somewhat short finish. perhaps i would have enjoyed this more a few years ago. don't know how members are coming up with longevity of 2030. is there a typo somewhere? nevertheelss, the wine is vigorous enough that i am pushing drink by date down to 2013.

Clear ruby core of moderate intensity out to a red edge and moderate watery rim - very youthful in appearance. Clean nose of black current, molasses, black berry, coffee and plum of moderate intensity - youthful nose. Soft on the palate with moderate harder and a bit green tannins, moderate acidity, mod body and mod+ acid. This is being drunk way too young! Light fruit flavours of plum on palate but the tannins intrude more and more with each sip. The finish is moderate in length with the light fruit and some chocolate continuing on. Well made and well balanced but French in style - not lush and plush at all. I would suggest this is in a dumb phase right now and requires 3 more years of aging for the tannin to soften and the wine to put on a bit more weight again - teenager right now - all lean and mean. Was softer last year...

EOTC Malbec Tasting (Katrina & Ryan's): "B" Thick fruit driven wine. Young Argentinian taste. Slightly sweet, dark red fruits. Plums, blackberries.
