  • Have had this bottle in the cellar for 15yrs, picked off Winebid, and have just been waiting for that right time. Well...I was tired of looking at that disgusting dark oxidized color every time I pull out the bottle...so I thought I'd put it out of its misery! I didn't pour it down the sink initially...it is definitely oxidized to the baked apples and sherry-ness...but not as off putting as I thought. There is a nice streak of pineapple and apricot/lemon acidity that livens the rich and somewhat oily, Sauternes-like, pitted orchard fruits like apricot, peach, and apples...really exotic with deep flavors of dried honey, hot buttered rum spice, walnut oil, peach tea...has an apricot marmalade sweetness to it, yet still crunchy with saline minerality and salted caramels...really reminds me of an aged savory Sauternes...very intriguing...but also some mothball rot, and antique wax intermixing with the ox. I know how good these wines can be, like the 01 I had two years ago...and this bottle just didn't make it. RIP

  • I've had this wine in my cellar since release. I've had other bottles that have been amazing. This wine is just flat dead. I'd like to hope that this is a just a bad bottle since this wine used to be glorious.
