NobleRottersSydney - 1996 night (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): {cork, 14%} {Geoffrey} Not sure this is showing as it should. To me the nose was flat and harsh, with a blend of aged medicinal and confectionary aromas. The palate seemed slightly fizzy, with a metallic tinge to the flavours. There’s a remnant of sweet red Barossa fruits, but no development apparent, no real tannin and a very short finish. I didn’t see the cork or know the ullage; this seems somewhat oxidised, although to be honest I’d about expect this cuvee to be on its last legs in any case at 20 years (postscript; I see we had this back in 2009, when I called it ‘ready to drink’. Good call!)

Big brassy Barossa Shiraz. Still has oodles of red fruit and dark fruit....quite amazing considering its age. Nice full mouth feel and just enough acidity for fresh flavours.

Excellent medium bodied Barossa Shiraz, holding up very well despite its 18 years in the bottle. Still has oodles of dark and red fruit. Tannins are now oh so soft. Very long finish with just a nice amount of acidity and a hint of pepper at the very end. Glad we have a few more.

NobleRottersSydney - Cellar Orphans (Alio's, Surry Hills): [cork, 14%]{Steven - guest} A big ripe voluptuous vanilla nose of ripe chocolatey fruits in a crowd-pleasing style. Especially if you like American oak! All very obvious on the palate; big simple vanilla flavours mirror the nose, but are hearty and honest. Like your country cousin… Medium-full bodied, medium intensity and length of finish. Some dusty tannins remain, and there’s some decent mid-palate weight too. OK, but should have been better for the price (when new). Ready to drink.

Worth the wait. Another forgotten bottle in my stash. Tasted a bit tight upon opening, but with an hours + worth of time open - quit nice.
Glad I carried it back from ANZ all those years ago!
