  Much better than my last bottle and no signs of brett or any defect. More density and structure than a Jouan Aux Ech consumed the day before. My wife prefers the Maume while I prefer the Jouan. The Maume was earthy with hints of red fruit and typical for a cooler vintage. Fine to drink now but this should improve a bit with time in bottle. Good effort and wine.

  Another bottle with a stinky aroma and thin red fruit. Not to belabor the point, but the nose is not stinky in the traditional sense for burgundy, but profoundly odd. If you find the nose of a city’s milorganite recycling pond interesting, then you might enjoy the nose of this wine. I would not serve this to anyone. I am not in a generous mood, I guess, but the 2011 vintage from Domaine Maume was a bust. This bottle has been open about one hour. If it improves, I will report back.

  Well, I am having a very similar experience with this wine as my last bottle. When first opened, this wine offered an unpleasant nose of stinky funk. Fortunately after an hour or two, it has settled down, but still has a little funk to it. It has a very light color to it and on the palate it seems to be past its prime. The fruit is there, but weak, like the color. Nevertheless, the flavors are good with notes of pale colored cherries. As I mentioned last time, if i had ordered it at a restaurant, I would have sent it back. I have never had such a stinky burgundy. I have one more bottle to get through.
