  • Decent, correct Chablis. A pleasant mixture of green and yellow fruit, creamy textured with crushed stone and some wood that is apparent but pretty well-integrated. Not particularly complex or interesting, but the balance and flavors are good, particularly with food. I think this is something to drink soon-ish, say in the next 1-3 years.

  • Half of the bottle was decanted into a .375 and saved for the second night. First night: the nose is nothing but shrimp shells (I admit I cribbed that from some other note, but it fits), with maybe a touch of mint. Quite acidic on the palate, becoming less so as it warms up. Shortish finish. Second night: the nose is more reticent but shows a mineral/stony aspect instead of the shrimp and also has an undercurrent of pear. I even thought I picked up butter at one point, surprisingly. Palate is still very crisp, though less wound up and shows some fruit to match the acid. Finish still not too impressive. A good though fairly straightforward wine, but not if you're looking for fruit. I would hold at least a year before trying another bottle to let this unwind a bit.
