  • drank 1½ hours after decanting. This was pretty sweet on the palate as one would expect. Very minty, with nice cedar notes. The nose was just so fragrant and lovely.

  • This showed like a St. Emiion from a big vintage last night. It could have passed for a 1999 SE, showing dense faded purple with a deep vain of mahogany buried inside. Smoky and plush, yet with allure and a long, warm and serious finish. Everyone loved this and someone poured them and their guest 2 huge glasses and deprived me of nothing more than about a 2 ounces of wine, mostly from remaining 2 inches of sediment from a bottle that I opened out of love.

A note to anyone out there who doesnt know this: It's not courteous to pour gobs of a wine for yourselves and leave nothing behind. Especially so for your host. Its a lack of wine etiquette.

  • Winapalooza VI; 9/2/2022-9/4/2022 (Atlanta): How did we drink so many amazing bottles all on the same night? I think we continued with some of these on the next day but I really can’t keep all the details straight at this point!!
Blackberry, mixed berries, balanced, plenty of fruit, some grippiness on the finish, full fruity juicy, acid balanced but noticeable if that is possible. Drinking younger than 2002, obviously well stored.
Those were my ‘stream of consciousness’ notes on the night.

  • Need to say this bottle is drinking a ton younger than the bottle of last month at MJP's event. This bottle more like a rich, big fruited '09 and does not feel its age at all. The nose is strong and exquisitely floral from the cab component here. Lots more barrel spice component than last month's bottle, too. Really nice with plenty of air. Given a 3+ hour slow ox before dinner, cork back in the bottle as we went to dinner and then we all finished it all in the 3 hours after dinner. Just a splendid wine but goes to show there is some bottle variation as far as aging.

  • Here's where Agelvis and I, differ. This has some age to it. Beautiful balance of all components. Yes, there is minimal fruit on the nose, but so many other things, still there. On the palate there is plenty of fruit left. This wine is in a great spot of full integration on all fronts. Aged beautifully...this is a 95-96 point wine for those that like this style and age.
