  • From a 375 ml bottle: so young and fresh still, bell pepper, black currant, tobacco, soft oak, leather, black cherry, mushroom, smoke, medium plus body, dry long dark fruit finish. Wining with Polle and Arnd.

  • The 2 bottles from auction showed a bit of advanced aging, muddled old BDX aromas and flavors. These bottles do not sound representative of sone the most recent reviews.

  • Good bottle, cork 1/2 soaked through. Gave it 1 hour of air. Surprisingly fresh nose of wet stone, bell pepper. Pepper (which is for me the "signature" of St.Estephe) is also the first thing that comes in my mind when I have to judge the palate. There are also spices, forest floor and some cherry-notes too. Beautiful structure and a young silhouette with just the right amount of sweetness to balance the acidity that's still there. Mid length leads to a very good wine all in all. Overall impression is "Little Sister of Montrose"! Still much life left...92-93 pts.

  • Perfect spot right now. Classic aged bdx, a little bit short but very enjoyable. 93-94

  • Medium-dark garnet in color with slight bricking & distinct clearing at the edges. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blueberries & currants with overtones of cigar box notes of cedar & tobacco, leather, some floral notes of violets, loam/earthy/dusty, minerals & bell pepper/herbal notes in the background. Medium bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & cassis with herbs, mushrooms, minerals & a slight hint of oak. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing but at 34 years of age, it is at or close to its peak of development. I doubt any further development would occur from additional aging although it should hold here for several more years. Fill was in lower neck; cork was stained 1/2 way but intact.
