  • So... "Ružica Bijela" is a white wine apparently made from the "Ružica Crvena" red grape, and, to complicate things further, while it seems certain that it's the Croatian name for the grape known more internationally under it's Hungarian name (Kövi)dinka, some claim that it's the same as the Dalmatian variety Okatac, some set them apart. It seems to be somewhat mass-marketed only by Đakovačka Vina and its parent company Kutjevo. So, is it, if you set its relative rarity in Croatia aside, worth all these lines?

In this 3€-for-1l-kvalitetno-class form, no, not really. Quite deep golden colour, maybe slightly tinged with green. Slighty oily, a bit tart typical white wine aroma, red apples maybe. Thin weak taste, candied apples, acidic, thin again finish, slightly peppery. Weak, like a diluted acidic cross of graševina & riesling. And I liked it more than the friends I shared it with, so -1 point to what I would've normally given a 74 to.
