Clear cherry and some funk on the nose, along with some earth and a touch of wood. On the palate this is still quite tannic, and has a good attack of moss, cherries and sprtiz of darker fruit, while also having considerable damp wood, and earthy notes through the middle. It ends more the damp wool end, fairly funky, but thoroughly pleasing provided there is a bit of food involved to interact with the tannin. This is drinking well now, based on this bottle, but should be served with food. Also, it could probably age another 10 years tannin-wise to maturity, but may not have quite as much stuffing as tannin.

Our host called this: “The French Dead Corpses Tasting”. (@ PV): The bouquet is not very expressive. On the palate juicy dark berries, juicy berry fruits, some maturity and slightly drying tannin beside the juicy acidity. Not really impressive, but certainly very ok, even beside the other wines in this tasting 86 - 87.

Fully mature nose, cedar and tobacco. good depth, spices and crushed red fruit; harmonious, calm, has aged well, pleasant weight, juicy, firm structure, fresher than the 1985, well-integrated oak; good length, starting to dry out. Good wine but not made for eternity.

Clean, good typicity and depth, compact and harmonious, barnyardy Cabernet, soft Merlot fruit, lovely; medium weight, well-rounded, lovely balance, good grip, cheese rind and seashell, relatively light and dry; good length.

Moderate bricking. Oxidized nose, honeyed palate.
