Falls a bit short for a Cabernet Sauvignon. Body is a bit light for style with not enough complexities. Shot on tannin and a bit more fruity than I would expect. Reasonably price but not sure I would go for second on this one.

given that I frequently recommend this wine to people asking about party priced cab, I thought I should actually try it again. This was quite thin and pretty uninteresting to start, but the second glass opened up a bit to show some fruit.
I actually think this is a better "value buy" that the 2012 Columbia Crest Grand Estates as it shows a true cab profile, even hints of smoke and leather (please don't laugh, I am being serious). Ok, this won't knock anyone over, but when you are buying mass quantities of red colored beverage for a holiday party with 120 of your closest friends, you could do a lot worse. ....Of course everyone has pals who know the good stuff, raid the wine cellar and hide away in the man cave, so this is not a foolproof strategy. To avoid a party from dividing into haves and have nots, you probably need to go bit more upscale.

From a 187 ml split. Decanted, swirled vigorously, and poured. On the nose, emptiness and underripe fruit. On the palate, some pleasant fruit at first, for a fraction of a second, but then all very unripe fruit and empty tang. Drink within the next six months. Overall value: 1.5 stars of 5. Overall impression: below average.
