  • Incredible wine for the age. It truly still has all the complexity and flavors after all this time. One of Ann's best!

  • How they evolve, that's the story here. Right now this wine is certainly good but not as good as my prev. notes. Decanted 30 mins. ahead off of a bit of sediment. Very deep bricky garnet color. Nice but still shy nose of white pepper, plums, meat, black cherry. Full-bodied and round on the palate, with black-fruit flavors leading. Zin-like. Finishes with coating but light tannins. Here we have a wine with some bottle age, and good characteristics arising from that, but the low acid level is holding it back. I guessed that this was Zin plus Syrah plus Petite Sirah, which is not bad. I still have more, so we will see what happens.

  • Here I am 2 years later. Decanted 1 hr. ahead off of some sediment. Ultra-deep garnet color with no bricking. Very nice nose of cedar, blackberry and Amador Spice. Full-bodied and smoothish on the palate as bottle age has done its work. It's integrated and deep. The finish is long and drying, with more red-fruit and still some light tannins. You don't know what grapes you are drinking, which goes somewhat against the grain here in CA, but hey, you can't quarrel with what's in the glass which is good. It tightened up later when the Petite Sirah kicked in some more, but this means that waiting even longer will likely be rewarded.

  • How did they do this? Decanted 1 hr. ahead off of some sediment. Deep garnet with a little purple, no bricking. Very nice nose of plums, black cherries, black pepper, white pepper, wood. Mature texture, which means smooth and rich, with smoothed-out acids. Medium to full body. Finish is drying, with just a whisper of tannins and a bit of heat. I think they did it by careful attention to all the intermediary steps, and a good dose of bottle age. Very good QPR here.
